Jhelum DCO Iqbal Hussein, Assistant District Commissioner Ahmer Naik, DOC Kashif Mohammad Ali and EDO Health Dr Asif conducted a surprise visit of the hospital on Friday and held a meeting with Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Mazhar and other officials of the hospital.
DCO Hussein expressed dismay over the state of sanitation at the hospital and directed the authorities to utilise the municipal staff to maintain hygiene at the health facility.
“Piles of garbage and irresponsible disposal of hospital waste cannot be tolerated,” he said.
Reiterating that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had called for upgrading the DHQ Hospital, but first it has to be made a model health facility which utilises its available sources efficiently, the DCO said.
The district administration team surveyed several departments of the hospital including the emergency block, paediatric ward, burns unit, general ward, X-Ray, CT-Scan and pathology departments and the waiting area.
They directed provision of dialysis facilities at 24-7 basis, so that no patient is turned away.
