Apple’s smart wearable has been here for a while now, however, it hasn’t been able to get much traction with smartphone users mainly owing to its limited functionality.

While some questioned the purpose of the Apple Watch, it seems we finally may have an answer. Former Apple engineer Shawn Grening has developed a new camera band called CMRA which allows users to take selfies and record HD videos.

The band has two cameras and both, the front facing 8 megapixel and self-facing 2 megapixel camera, save pictures and videos to an 8GB storage space on the band. The band allows up to 30 minutes of video to be saved.

Creators of this innovative band have also come up with a new charging dock that can charge both the device and the band simultaneously.

Apple released its smart wearable watch amid great fanfare last year and we saw only minor updates to it at this year’s Apple event. The tech giant hasn’t yet released unit sales numbers for the device which might suggest declining sales.

The new band by Glide gives Apple’s smart wearable a right mix of features to transform it from a novelty to a must-have accessory.

CMRA camera band will be available for pre-orders this Wednesday with sales starting by Spring 2017. The band comes in four colours; white, blue, gray and black and will set you back $149 if pre-ordered. Retail price is expected to be higher at $249.
