The programme aims to generate space awareness among the general public and students from a large number of schools and colleges of the twin cities and surrounding areas. WSW began on Wednesday with an impressive opening ceremony.
Electrical Engineering Department head and IST CUBESAT Project Director Dr Qamarul Islam was the chief guest. IST Deputy Director Dr Najam Abbas welcomed the participants and briefed the audience on the significance and scope of WSW 2016.
WSW is celebrated in accordance with the United Nations General Assembly’s declaration of 1999, which suggested the celebration of WSW. The theme for WSW 2016 is “Remote sensing-Enabling Our Future”, which aims to celebrates earth observation from space for the betterment of the human race.
