PSP leader Ashfaq Mangi claims his brother injured in ‘kidnapping bid’; police deny incident

Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) leader Syed Mustafa Kamal dropped a bombshell on Monday; however, this time he did not aim for his usual target, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain, but Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan.

Terming the Sindh governor “Rishwat [bribe] ul Ibad”, the PSP chief claimed “Ibad oxygenates all evil forces including Altaf”.

Talking to media at PSP leader Ashfaq Mangi’s residence in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area, the former Karachi mayor claimed the firing at Mangi’s house was carried out on the behest of the MQM founder.



Slamming the Sindh governor for maintaining contacts with Altaf and MQM-Pakistan leader Dr Farooq Sattar, Kamal claimed Ibad was also present during a Dubai meeting which he had earlier referred to as a witness against MQM’s alleged RAW funding.

While the PSP leader derided the governor for taking bribes from government and private officials, he demanded that Ibad be arrested immediately and his name be put on the Exit Control List (ECL).

Mangi’s brother injured in Karachi ‘kidnapping bid’

Earlier in the day, Mangi’s brother was reportedly injured from firing when a group of four unidentified persons tried to kidnap him from his house in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Express News reported.

However, SSP East Faisal Abdullah Chachar said no person was injured in the attack, claiming the police reached the scene soon after the incident and investigation was underway.

Mangi left the MQM to join Kamal’s party in April. The lawmaker was elected from Sindh Assembly’s PS-127 constituency in the 2013 general elections, and is also a former member of the MQM Rabita Committee.
