LAHORE: Three young men, including the brother of a bridegroom, were electrocuted in Harbanspura late Friday night after returning from a wedding reception.

The victims were shifting dowry items to their home in Rasheedpura after the wedding ceremony of a man named Atif when they came in contact with a high-voltage wire. The men fell unconscious and were shifted to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced them dead on arrival.

The tragic incident created panic in the locality as festivities turned into mourning. The relatives and neighbours of the victims staged a protest on Shalimar Link Road, blaming the electricity authorities for the deaths.

The victims were identified as Kashif, Ibrahim and Moazzam, whose engagement was to take place the next day. Police have handed over the bodies to their families after completing legal formalities.
