LAHORE: Youngsters associated with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf came out in full force to join their leader’s struggle against the government on Friday despite the ongoing controversy surrounding the dissolution of the party’s youth wing.

Members of the PTI’s Youth Wing, the Insaf Student Federation (ISF) and the Insaf Tiger Force (ITF) took part in the Raiwind rally with usual fervour.

Tajammul Malik, a PTI Youth Wing member present at the rally, told The Express Tribune the wing’s dissolution issue would be sorted out after the rally as announced by the party chief.

He said the youth stood behind every move of Imran and would follow his lead, dispelling all impressions of internal divisions within the PTI.

Earlier on September 10, a notification from the PTI Secretary-General Jahangir Tareen’s office said the party’s youth, women and labour wings had been dissolved and notified their reorganisation at the regional level.

The party’s youth wing operates in all 36 districts of Punjab at the UC level with over 3,000 office-bearers. While the decision caused outrage among the youngsters, the youth wing leadership was called in at Imran’s residence in Bani Gala to pacify its members.

At a press conference later, the wing reiterated its support for the rally and vowed to fully support the anti-corruption rally.

At Friday’s rally, the youth wing members came out wearing caps of the ISF and ITF.

In Peshawar last week, IFT President Bashir Khan had said more than 25 caravans would leave Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to participate in the Raiwind rally against corruption.

He along with other members of the Tiger force, said they had finalised arrangements for the rally to be peaceful and if somebody tried to use force against them, they would give a befitting response.
