ISLAMABAD: A sessions court has granted bail to a man wanted to police in an attempt to murder case. Muhammad Zaafran, the suspect, had opened fire on a police party at a checkpoint on Lehtrar Road on August 15.

Police said they intercepted Zaafran who was riding a motorcycle No GTK-2082 but he allegedly opened fire on policemen and fled. Nilore police booked him for attempted murder and obstructing police officials the same day.

However, the suspect obtained interim bail from the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge (East) Raja Khurram Ali Khan. After hearing the arguments and examining the case record, the court accepted his bail-before arrest application on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Additional District and Sessions Judge (East) Wajid Ali rejected bail-before-arrest plea of a fraud and forgery suspect. Mazhar Hussain, the suspect, was booked by Shahzad Town police in January this year.
