SUKKUR: A resident of Daleel Khan Korai village claimed on Sunday that the Ghotki police set his house on fire in his absence and took away his 10 goats and cash.

The village is situated in the limits of Sarhad police station. The resident, Ali Nawaz Korai, told Mirpur Mathelo-based journalists that a team from Sarhad police station raided his house when no male member was present. He added that after a thorough search, the police took away Rs10,000 along with 10 goats and torched the house before leaving.

Meanwhile, the police denied these charges, claiming that Ali Nawaz was a thief. The head constable of Sarhad police station, Noor Muhammad Kolachi, told reporters that a constable, Kauro Korai, had registered an FIR against Ali Nawaz on charges of theft. "Today, a police party raided his house but as no male member was present in the house, the police left," he claimed.

Sarhad SHO Nisar Alam Abro told The Express Tribune that he was on leave and did not know if the police conducted the raid. However, he admitted that after the complaint registered by constable Kauro, the police had raided Ali Nawaz's house two days before Eid but did not find him there. According to the officer, Ali Nawaz was involved in theft of valuables from the house of constable Kauro.

A Mirpur Mathelo-based reporter said that Ali Nawaz and Kauro were close relatives and were involved in a family dispute for the last couple of years. Since then both of them have been trying to equal scores with each other. He added that Kauro has edge over his relatives including Ali Nawaz since he is a police constable.
