Assistance to needy: Fund for welfare of journalists’ families created

An endowment fund has been formed for the welfare of the families of those journalists who have fallen in the line of duty during the dispensation of their professional duties.

Media Town Housing Society Chairman Farouq Faisal made the announcement at a ceremony at the National Press Club here on Sunday.

The endowment fund has initially been started with Rs30 million seed money, contributed by some senior journalists, he said.

He said that the trustees are Nasir Zaidi, Hamid Mir, Zafar Malik, Afzal Butt, Tariq Chaudhary, Khalid Azeem, Maira Imran and Shakeel Anjum.

He further added that the fund aims at providing health and education facilities to the families of journalists.
