MULTAN: A wedding ceremony for 63 couples was held at the Prison Ground on MM Road, Fatehpur, Layyah district, on Sunday. The wedding was organised by the Imam Khomeini (IK) Trust.

MPA Abdul Majeed Khan was also present at the wedding.

Allama Syed Iftakhar Hussain Naqvi, chairman of IK trust and member of the Council for Islamic Ideology, said the wedding had been arranged to help the underprivileged. He said the 63 couples that had tied the knot on Sunday came from financially-stressed families who could not afford to hold fancy weddings. “Holding mass marriages helps create an ideal Islamic society.” MPA Abdul Majeed Khan appreciated Naqvi’s efforts. “Many under-privileged families take out loans to pay for their children’s weddings...That is unfortunate.” He said the IK Trust had done the 63 families a great service by organising weddings for the under-privileged. “We need to open our hearts and help our financially-stressed brethren in every way possible,” the MPA said.
