According to the MQM, Khan, a member of the Rabita Committee, was taken under custody on July 12 from Federal B Area, where he went to meet another party leader.
While the MQM claimed he was rounded up by Rangers, the paramilitary force did not say he was under detention.
The statement, however, said Khan's health was taken care of during interrogation.
MQM leader Izhar Ahmed Khan detained
“Izhar Khan will be called upon again for interrogation if need be,” read the LEA’s statement.
The MQM on Tuesday demanded safe release of their leader, who is a "cardiac patient".
“Izhar Khan, who was formerly working at the London Secretariat, is also a British citizen and his family which resides in London has appealed to the British High Commission to help in securing his early and safe release,” the party said during a press conference in Karachi.
