LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Punjab has denied media reports about Imran Khan’s marriage, calling them an attempt by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to divert attention away from the Panama Papers.

In a statement, PTI Punjab Information Secretary Syed Sumsam Bukhari said that the rumours were being spread by the government. “This is being done in order to divert public attention from real issues, including investigation into the Panama Papers and appointment of Election Commission of Pakistan’s members,” he said.

Bukhari said that the PTI and other opposition parties were in the process of launching a movement after the government refused to accept their terms of reference (ToRs). “Speculative reports will not prevent us from pursuing our political goals. The reports aim at stalling the opposition momentum,” he said.

Earlier on Tuesday Imran Khan had taken to the social media to deny reports of his third marriage. The party’s central information secretary, Naeemul Haq, also issued a statement denying the reports.
