LAHORE: Nine people were hospitalised after eating out in Shadbagh late on Friday.

Police said they were celebrating Eid at their home. “They ordered shawarma from Student Shawarma located in Chowk Nakhuda. All of them started feeling dilapidated after eating it. They were taken to Kot Khawaja Saeed Hospital for treatment,” police said.

Farzana, one of the patients, said that she had started feeling nausea after eating the shawarma. “Most of us started throwing up. Our parents then called Rescue 1122, who brought us to the hospital,” she said.

They were identified as Farzana, Ambreen, Faizan, Zeeshan, Amna, Kainat, Aleesha, Iram and Ijaz. Three of them were discharged after treatment. Shadbagh police registered a case against the owner of the shop.

On June 30, at least 30 people had also been hospitalised after eating shawarma from the same shop. Police had registered a case against the owner and the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) had sealed the shop. PFA Operations Director Ayesha Mumtaz said that the owner of shop had started operating on Eid without their permission. She said that the shop had been sealed again.
