KARACHI: Three suspected militants belonging to banned outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) were killed in a ‘shootout’ with Rangers in Lyari on Wednesday night, according to a paramilitary force spokesperson.

The Rangers conducted a raid in Chakiwara area after receiving a tip on the presence of militants in the area, a statement read. The militants, upon seeing the Rangers advancing towards their hideout, opened fire, which led to retaliatory fire by the paramilitary personnel, it added.

As a result of this exchange of fire, three suspected militants were killed. They were later identified as Khan Darwesh and Arshad Khan of TTP and Habibullah of LeJ.

The Rangers also recovered arms, ammunition and explosives from the suspected militants’ hideout.
