Final warning: Sindh government orders removal of illegal billboards

Supreme Court ordered to remove the billboards and hoardings

KARACHI: The Sindh government on Saturday gave a final call to all the administrators of the District Municipal Corporations (DMCs) to remove illegal billboards from their respective districts.

Sindh local government minister Jam Khan Shoro asked the administrators of all the DMCs to ensure the removal of all the billboards under their supervision before the deadline given by the apex court, which is June 30.

"Now no one will be spared," said Shoro, adding that action will be taken against those administrators who fail to remove the billboards in their respective DMCs.

Earlier, in May, the Supreme Court had maintained that there was no law that permits installing outdoor advertising billboards and signboards on 'public property' and ordered the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the Defence Housing Authority and all the cantonment boards to remove the billboards and hoardings across the city by June 30.
