KARACHI: Police have recommended the release of a female suspect in a case relating to the death of Haleema, whose body was found in Delhi Colony on March 31.

Sonia Rizwan was taken into custody after Haleema was found dead under mysterious circumstances days after her four-year-old son, Abdullah, was handed over to the Edhi Foundation.

Days later the police took into custody Sonia's husband, Rizwan Ayaz Khan, the man who had left the child at the Edhi Foundation on May 25. Police claim Rizwan is the key suspect in the murder and later also took Sonia into custody.

On Thursday, the IO filed a report stating that no evidence was found against Sonia to establish that she played a role in committing the murder and therefore, her release was reccommended. The judicial magistrate issued notices to the public prosecutor to argue on the police report on June 18. The IO named Rizwan as the main suspect in the charge sheet.
