Raids: 120kg meat of dead animals found

Five shopkeepers involved in selling food items on high prices were arrested

DI KHAN: The district administration of DI Khan raided a house and found 120 kilogrammes of dead animal meat in Toyanwall Mohalla on Friday. This was mentioned in a statement issued from the office of the deputy commissioner. DI Khan Assistant Commissioner Zahid Pervaiz, along with a veterinarian, raided the house and found the meat. The person involved in selling the meat was arrested and sent to Central Prison DI Khan. Police said the meat was brought from Bakkar, Punjab to DI Khan and sold to the public and hotels, mostly to be used in biryani. Meanwhile, district government officials also raided different parts of DI Khan city to check prices of food commodities. Five shopkeepers involved in selling food items on high prices were arrested, whereas 12 shopkeepers were fined with Rs48,000 in total.
