Capital punishment: Seven sentenced to death, four get life terms 

The court acquitted the six suspects by giving them benefit of doubt

FAISALABAD: A district and session courts on Wednesday sentenced seven convicts to death on three counts each and life imprisonment to four convicts involved in separate murder committed in Satiana and Garh police precincts.

According to Satiana police, Gul Muhammad alias Gulzar, and his accomplices Mohmand, Muhammad Aslam, Muhammad Ali, Shamshair, Tauseef, Ghulam Arbab, Mazhar, Nabeel Aslam, Munawar and Allah Yar had killed their rivals Wazir Ali, Aesh Muhammad and Khalid Mehmood over an old enmity in Chak 432-GB in 2012.

Additional Session Judge Ali Raza Awan sentenced Gul Muhammad, Mohmand and Muhammad Aslam to death on three counts and sentenced Muhammad Ali and Shamshair to life imprisonment on three counts each.

The convicts have also been directed to pay Rs600,000 each as compensation to family of the deceased. Otherwise they will have to undergo an additional imprisonment of nine months each. The court acquitted the six suspects by giving them benefit of doubt.

Separately, Additional Session Judge Arshad Mehmood sentenced Zawar, Maqbaool, Rauf and Naveed to death and sentenced their accomplices Riaz and Iqbal to life imprisonment. They have been directed to pay Rs200,000 each as compensation to the families of the deceased. Otherwise, they will have to undergo additional six months imprisonment each.

The convicts and their accomplices Fareed, Maqsood, Waris, Sabtain, Ata Muhammad and Altaf had killed two brothers Manzoor and Muhammad Ali, residents of Jalli Fatiyana village, Tandlianwala, over a property dispute in 2011 in a Garh police precinct.

The court acquitted the remaining suspects giving them the benefit of doubt.
