LAHORE:

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif must answer all questions raised by the opposition in the light of Panama Papers revelations, Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri said on Wednesday.

He was addressing an event on the 27th Foundation Day of the party through video link. “Instead of replying to the questions, the PM has fled to London on the pretext of getting medical treatment. He is staying in the flats purchased from corruption proceeds,” he said. The PAT chief said that the prime minister had the option of resigning in a dignified manner if he did not want to answer the questions. “The PM bought flats in the most expensive city of the world from corruption proceeds,” he said. Qadri said those who had enriched themselves with public money must be held accountable. “During their election campaigns, these same leaders had announced that they would break the begging bowl. However, they are borrowing from not only monetary institutions, but also from friendly countries,” he said.

The event was held at the PAT central secretariat in Model Town. Dr Hassan Mohiyuddin Qadri was the chief guest at the ceremony.
