Gujranwala resident student Hafiz Muhammad Ahmed submitted a petition against the Board of Intermediate Education stating that the board members had removed one of his answer sheets to reduce his marks. The court took stern action and ordered that board chairman Mehr Bashir inquire into the matter. An inquiry committee proved that the board officials had removed one of the sheets of the student’s exams, following which Ahmed’s total score was reduced by 15 marks to 917. Ahmed has now received the third highest mark in the intermediate exam and received a Rs50,000 cash prize. On the occasion, school principal Muhammad Tahir also gave Ahmed an additional prize of Rs100,000. The chairman of the board Mehr Bashir Ahmed said that stern action would be taken against those responsible for the false grade.
