Rangers release MQM's deputy convener from custody

Shahid Pasha was arrested on March 21 from his residence in Karachi

KARACHI: More than a month after his arrest, Sindh Rangers released on Tuesday Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Shahid Pasha from custody.

The paramilitary force had arrested Pasha from his apartment in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area of Karachi on March 21.

His arrest was declared later during the day, and was produced in an Anti Terror Court to seek the leader's 90-day preventive detention.

According to sources, Pasha reached party headquarters Nine Zero after his release.

Pasha was made deputy convener of the MQM Rabita Committee a year ago, and is believed to be an important figure in party's organisational structure.

Napier Mole | 7 years ago | Reply No explanation of why he was arrested to start with? Why his family was kept on tenterhook for weeks? Such arbitrary actions generate resentment, not acquiescence.
