Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif was awarded Jordan’s medal of merit in recognition of his efforts against terrorism and extremism which have become a global threat and the close ties between Pakistan and Jordan.
On behalf of King Abdullah, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordanian Armed Force Gen Mashal Al-Zaben presented Military Merit of the First Order to Gen Raheel who was on a two-day official visit to the kingdom.
According to ISPR the COAS was given unprecedented reception on his arrival at Amman and was received by King’s Advisor on Military Affairs Gen Zaben and Chief of Royal Jordanian Air Force Maj-Gen Mansour Al-Jobour.
Later, Gen Raheel met Prince Hassan bin Talal and Lt-Gen Prince Faisal Bin Hussein. During the meetings regional security, military to military relations, matter of mutual interest including enhanced defence collaboration and military training exchanges were discussed.
Later in an exclusive ceremony, Gen Reheel was awarded Jordan’s most prestigious medal of merit for displaying remarkable courage in leading Pakistan army in the face of multiple threats especially terrorism.
