MUZAFFARABAD:

A local court remanded on Monday five persons to police custody till March 23 for interrogation in connection with poisoning a girl after sexual assault.

The police arrested them on the complaint of the girl for allegedly kidnapping and gang-raping her in Muzaffarabad district, police said.

“Five men kidnapped the 18 years old girl on March 8 while she was on the way to home. They took her to Rawani fields and molested her,” City Police SHO Pervez Hameed told The Express Tribune on Monday.

The girl fell unconscious after she was poisoned by the alleged rapists. Local people informed her parents who shifted her to Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan Hospital, the official added.

The victim gained consciousness after spending four days in the hospital and narrated her ordeal.

“We have registered a case of rape and an attempt to murder through poisoning against the suspects. Investigation teams are working on other angles of the case as well,” the SHO said.
