Chaudhry Nisar directs CADD minister to form a committee to forward recommendations.

ISLAMABAD: The government is making sincere efforts to move private schools out of residential areas, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar said on Friday.

The minister stated that in light of a Supreme Court verdict, private schools will be shifted out of residential areas soon. He further added that a system would be put in place which would help resolve the grievances of stakeholders including students, parents and school administrations.

He blamed the previous governments for ruining the Capital Development Authority (CDA)’s master plan, which has now created problems for citizens.

Chaudhry Nisar said this while presiding over a high-level meeting which was also attended by CADD Minister Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, the CADD secretary, the Islamabad IGP, the CDA chairman, the Islamabad commissioner and deputy commissioner, and senior interior ministry and CADD officers.

The option to shift private schools from residential areas to appropriate locations was brought under discussion. The minister was briefed on the issue and informed that the Supreme Court’s directions were applicable to over 350 schools and over 90,000 students.

Minister of State for CADD Dr Fazal Chaudhry was directed to form a committee that will provide detailed recommendations to the government for available plots to private schools. The interior minister also stressed that the procedure should be held in a transparent manner and a clear timeline is set for it. The committee will submit its recommendations in a week.
