Maryum Iqbal filed the petition in which she questioned the admissions committee’s decision. She said that she passed her Matriculation and Intermediate exams by more than 86 per cent and qualified the entrance test and interview but was still denied admission on open merit.
Maryum later applied for the self-finance scheme but was told that her case was “under consideration”. After some time, candidates with lower marks were offered admissions while she was denied. She asked the court to declare this illegal and summon the original admission records to see if there were irregularities in the process. On Tuesday, the bench, comprising Chief Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany and Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh, ordered the issuance of pre-admission notices to the respondent DUHS, its coordinator and director admissions for January 26.
