KARACHI:

The Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) on Sunday alleged that the recent meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and MQM-Pakistan Chairman Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui was aimed at devising a formula to plunder the resources of Sindh.

In a statement, a GDA spokesperson claimed that Zardari appeared ready once again to compromise Sindh's interests in order to prolong his rule.

The spokesperson said the people of Sindh would not accept any deal involving the province's resources and would reject any conspiracy against the interests of the province.

The statement added that the people of Sindh would never tolerate any move towards the division of the province or political manoeuvring over its resources.

The GDA warned that those attempting to compromise on Sindh's interests would face a strong public reaction.

It said safeguarding the unity and resources of Sindh was the responsibility of every patriotic citizen, adding that any political move or deal made at the expense of the province's interests would be firmly resisted.
