Eid cheer reaches the needy
Welfare groups distribute clothes, shoes, gifts to underprivileged children

Welfare organisations and philanthropists have begun distributing Eid gifts to poor families and orphaned children to help them share in the festivities of Eidul Fitr, as rising living costs make it difficult for many households to celebrate the occasion.
The Eid gift packages include ready-made clothes, slippers and other items for boys and girls under the age of 15. The initiative aims to ensure that children from low-income families can celebrate Eid with dignity and joy.
According to Sawasto Welfare Foundation Project Director Asif Khan, Eidul Fitr is a festival of happiness, but inflation and limited incomes often prevent many families from fully celebrating it. He said that various welfare organisations, including their NGO, are registering families in low-income neighbourhoods and distributing Eid gifts among children.
He added that under the foundation's initiative, Eid clothes, shoes and other items are being distributed to around 1,000 children.
Meanwhile, another charity worker, Imranul Haq, who oversees Eid gift distribution for a welfare organisation, said several NGOs are conducting similar drives in different underprivileged areas of the city. The gifts include ready-made garments and slippers for both children and adults.
