Governor House IT programme discontinued after Tessori's exit
Equipment removed from Education Tent City as thousands of enrolled students face uncertainty

The Information Technology (IT) training programme launched at the Governor House during the tenure of former governor Kamran Tessori has been discontinued following his removal from office.
Various IT courses had been initiated at the Governor House by Tessori around three years ago, according to Governor House sources. Tessori had claimed that nearly 50,000 students were enrolled in the program.
The federal government recently removed Tessori from his position. Before leaving office, he had expressed the hope that the IT program would continue. However, his successor Nihal Hashmi disclosed that all programs at the Governor House, including the IT initiative, were discontinued soon after Tessori's exit.
Officials said that equipment installed at the Education Tent City set up for the IT program has been removed, leaving the site largely deserted. Some materials are still lying at the location, they added.
The sudden closure of the program has raised concerns about the future of thousands of students who were enrolled in the courses. Hashmi said that efforts are under way to expand IT training opportunities under the Prime Minister's Youth Programme, adding that steps would be taken to provide broader access to such initiatives.
