KARACHI: Goods transporters have gone on countrywide strike because of a stand-off with the Pakistan Customs officials, National Highway Authority (NHA) and the provincial government. Karachi Goods’ Carriers Association member Shakur Alam told The Express Tribune that the federal government has increased the tax on vehicles, due to which they were unable to buy new vehicles. Alam said the NHA was charging illegally for overloading their vehicles. He said the strike will continue indefinitely.
