FAISALABAD: The medical superintendent of Children’s Hospital has been told to expedite work on hiring the requisite staff and procuring and installing necessary equipment. DCO Noorul Amin Mengal said on Monday that the hospital must open for patients without delay.

He was reviewing the pace of construction and completion of the Children’s Hospital on Jhang Road on Monday. The DCO said the hospital’s Emergency Ward had 200 beds and would be open for ailing children round-the-clock.

Mengal directed officials of the Buildings Department to complete construction work on the lobbies of the hospital within the next month. He said inordinate delays would not be tolerated.

The Children’s Hospital medical superintendent was told to recruit a senior registrar, requisite doctors and other medical and paramedical staff within the next 10 days.

Mengal told Project Coordinator Mukhtar Randhawa to personally monitor and supervise the instalment of X-ray machines, other lab machinery and gadgets. He said there should be no negligence in ensuring the best possible facilities at the Operation Theatre.

The DCO also reviewed the construction of carpeted roads in the Children’s Hospital premises.

He expressed dismay over the delay in setting up a 3,000KV electricity connection to the hospital even though, he said, all necessary payments had been made to the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company. Mengal requested the FESCO XEN to ensure the power connection to the hospital on a priority basis so that the hospital could operate its heavy machines.

The DCO also directed the Park and Horticulture Authority (PHA) to ensure attractive landscaping for the hospital.
