Rape-murder case: Suspects’ remand extended till Jan 30

Three other suspects were arrested a week later.

RAWALPINDI:


A local court on Friday extended judicial remand


of four suspects for their alleged involvement in a gang-rape cum murder till January 30.

A 24-year-old *woman was allegedly raped before being thrown out of an apartment in the jurisdiction of Rawat Police Station on November 21, 2015.

Police had arrested Umair the same day in an injured condition from the premises while reportedly trying to escape.

Three other suspects were arrested a week later.

All four suspects — Umair, Naveed, Izhar Shah and Mateen — were produced before Additional District and Sessions Judge Arif Khan Niazi on Friday.

The court directed police to produce charge sheet at the next hearing.
