KARACHI: The King of Colour, Nomi Ansari, is set to launch a luxury pret collection, experimenting this time with embroidered chiffon.

Talking to The Express Tribune, the designer said, “We are currently working on the collection which is entirely embroidered. We hope that it hits retail stores like Portia come February.”

Whereas other designers are wrapped up in lawn, Ansari plans on exploring the potential of the pret market and has hence, focused his attention towards it. Priced between Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000 per article, in his own words the collection will cater to those looking for wardrobe options for “weddings, parties and formal evening wear”.

February also has more in store for the designer as he muscles up to participate in a special Valentine’s Day show in Karachi, alongside design heavyweights Deepak Perwani, HSY and Fahad Hussayn.

Although he wasn’t exactly in the thick of affairs roundabout the time when the Fashion Pakistan Week Winter Festive was in full swing, his creations still sold like hot cakes throughout 2015’s wedding season. “It was jam-packed in December 2015,” he said.“This bridal season was a crazy time for me!”

The dull and dreary dominate the race

The label owes a lot of its success to the 15 years that it has been in the market. Ansari plans on more experimentation in the coming months. “I plan on collaborating with an international brand to bring some fun stuff for my clients,” he shared, refusing to tell more. Talking international, Nomi will also be showcasing at a fashion show in Houston on April 30.
