
Pakistan and Canada have a cordial relationship, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Wednesday.
Sharif made the remarks while meeting a delegation of Canadian politicians led by Ontario Leader of the Opposition Patrick Brown. Both sides agreed to enhance contact to strengthen cooperation across different sectors. Talking to those present, the chief minister said the two states shared the best of relations. However, he said, there was a need to strengthen cooperation in the education, health and skill-development sectors.

Sharif said the provincial government wanted to strengthen cooperation with Ontario in various sectors. He said quick steps should be taken on this account. The chief minister said the hundreds of thousands of Pakistanis resident in Canada were stellar ambassadors of the nation. Sharif said the foreign exchange they remitted back to the nation strengthened the national economy.
He said the government had placed the economy on an upward trajectory and the foreign exchange reserves stood at an all-time high. The chief minister said the provincial government had introduced revolutionary measures to empower the province’s young. He said youngsters were the nation’s future. Sharif said this was why the greatest amount of resources possible had been devoted to empowering them. Shahbaz said a path breaking reforms programme was being implemented across the health sector. Separately, the United States Consul General Zachary Harkenrider also called on the CM. Matters of mutual interest including ways of promoting ties and strengthening cooperation were discussed at the meeting.
