Vacant assurances: Damages sought from proprietor

Saeed said he had noticed that the camera had not been functioning well a few days after procuring the device

A consumer court issued a notice to a proprietor on Tuesday in connection with a citizen’s petition seeking Rs500,000 in damages for allegedly selling him a defective camera. Petitioner Muhammad Saeed said he had purchased a camera from Muhammad Naveed in Hafeez Centre after repeated assurances that it would work well. He said Naveed had also told him that he would be personally responsible if the device started acting up. Saeed said he had noticed that the camera had not been functioning well a few days after procuring the device. He said he had approached the proprietor in this regard who had refused to repair or exchange the camera. He asked the court to direct Naveed to pay him Rs500,000 in damages.
