Bad name: PJP appeals against Amir’s inclusion in national squad

Pakistan Justice Party has filed an intra-court appeal in Lahore High Court against dismissal of its writ petition seeking orders to stop Pakistan Cricket Board from including fast bowler Muhammad Amir in the national squad for New Zealand series. The party through, its head Advocate Malik Munsif Awan, said that former captain Salman Butt, bowlers Muhammad Asif and Muhammad Amir, had been banned for spot fixing during the Pakistan’s tour of England in 2010.


He said the trio, who served jail sentences in the United Kingdom, were banned fir five years by an anti-corruption tribunal of the international Cricket Council (ICC).

He said Amir had hurt the dignity of Pakistan and should not be included in the team. PCB’s counsel Tafazzul Rizvi said that the petitioner was not an aggrieved person.

He said Amir had seved  his ban and was eligible for the selection. A division bench comprising Justice Ayesha A Malik and Justice Faisal Zaman will take up the appeal on Monday. A single bench comprising Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan had dismissed the writ petition for being non-maintainable.
