PESHAWAR:

The Ehtesab Commission (EC) on Wednesday obtained aseven-day physical remand of former social welfare secretary Sahibzada Fazal Amin. He was arrested a day earlier for allegedly accumulating assets beyond his known sources of income.

The accused was produced before the Ehtesab Court to obtain his physical remand.

The EC team informed the court that the accused misused his authority and misappropriated Rs110 million from the Child Welfare and Protection Fund by opening private bank accounts.

As the secretary of the social welfare department in the previous government, Amin had parallel accounts opened in private banks for grants in aid and donor funds. He was charged with a loss of millions to the national exchequer by breaking financial regulations.
