The election board of Faisalabad District Bar Association will scrutinise nomination papers of candidates for the DBA’s annual election on Monday.


The DBA election board spokesperson said on Sunday that two candidates – Chaudhry Muhammad Azhar Khan and Qaisar Nazeer Sahi – have filed nomination papers for president and Raja Shabbir Ahmad Khan, Gulzar Hussain Taqi, Riaz Ahmad Khawaja and Babar Shehzad Hashmi for vice president.

Raheel Zafar Kainth, Azhar Haneef Khan and Asim Sheikh have filed nomination papers for secretary and Syed Muhammad Amjad Hussain Shah and Mian Atif Nazir Chaudhry for joint secretary.  For the seat of finance secretary, Raja Habibur Rehman, Haji Ali Shehzad Taraghar and Romana Usman have filed nomination papers and Shagufta Arshad and Chaudhry Munawwar Ali have filed nomination papers for the post of library secretary.

He said 40 candidates have filed nomination papers for 10 seats on the DBA Executive Committee.

The spokesperson said candidate could withdraw their nomination papers up to December 29. The final list of candidates would be released on December 30 and polling would be held on Saturday (January 9).

The election board comprises Shahid Mehmood Baig Advocate (chairman) and members Advocate Chaudhry Riaz Aslam and Advocate Muhammad Fayyaz Butt. The spokesperson said 2,630 lawyers would exercise their right to vote in the elections.
