KARACHI:

After the resolution adopted by Sindh Assembly to ratify Rangers' deployment in the province, Sindh government has again started consultations to issue notification to give Rangers special powers that expired on December 6.

A meeting was held at Chief Minister House on Thursday to discuss this issue. It was attended by Pakistan Peoples Party ministers, the adviser to the CM on law and the advocate-general.

After two weeks: Sindh extends Rangers powers with a caveat

"The notification will be issued in light of the assembly’s resolution curtailing the power of Rangers but it has yet to be decided what powers will be given," said a home department official. There were reports that the CM has approved the summary, which has been sent to home department for notification. However, a home department official negated this and said, "We have not yet seen the resolution. Its notification may take little more time."
