J.Lo and Ben Affleck’s kids "ready to move on" from the couple’s divorce despite close family ties

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s five children are adjusting well to the news of their divorce.

A source close to the situation told Page Six on Tuesday that both Lopez and Affleck’s kids are handling the situation just fine. “Everybody is ready to move on,” the insider said shortly after the "Let’s Get Loud" singer ended the marriage.

Lopez shares 16-year-old twins Max and Emme with her ex-husband Marc Anthony, while Affleck is father to Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner. The couple’s children have formed close bonds, spending time together at amusement parks, shopping malls, and on vacations since their parents rekindled their relationship in 2021.

Sources previously informed Page Six that Lopez was concerned about how their breakup would affect their blended family. “There are five kids involved in this,” a source noted, adding that Lopez was struggling to fully accept the end of the marriage.

On Tuesday, Page Six confirmed that the "Marry Me" star, 55, filed for divorce from Affleck, 52, after two years of marriage. TMZ initially reported the news. Lopez filed the papers at the Los Angeles Superior Court without legal representation and listed April 26, 2024, as the separation date. She did not mention whether they have a prenup and requested that spousal support be waived for both parties.

Coincidentally, Lopez filed for divorce on the second anniversary of their lavish Georgia wedding ceremony. The couple originally eloped in Las Vegas in July 2022.

Rumors of their split began circulating in May when Affleck did not attend the Met Gala with Lopez, where she was a co-chair. Shortly after, he was seen without his wedding ring, and TMZ reported that he had moved out of their Beverly Hills mansion.

The former couple listed their marital home for sale in July, having spent the summer apart. Lopez vacationed in Italy and the Hamptons while Affleck remained in Los Angeles for work. The "Good Will Hunting" star also missed Lopez’s "Bridgerton"-themed 55th birthday party, and they spent their second wedding anniversary apart.

Despite their separation, Lopez continues to maintain a relationship with Affleck’s children, having been seen with Violet in the Hamptons last month and shopping with Samuel on August 12.
