ISLAMABAD: At least six people were killed while over a dozen suffered injuries when a coaster rammed into a van at the busy Fateh Jhang Road near Tarnol area in the federal capital.

The police said the accident occurred when the driver of the coaster overtook a car and collided with the van coming from the opposite direction. “The accident took place due to over-speeding and negligence of the coaster driver who also died in the crash,” said Superintendent Police Habib Ullah Niazi.

He said the coaster was coming from Kohat while the van, carrying 18 passengers, was also Kohat-bound. “The five other people killed in the accident were the passengers and the driver of the van,” he added.

Rescue and police officials reached the spot soon after the crash and started shifting the dead and the injured to Pakistan Institute of Medical Science (Pims) and District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ).

Three dead bodies and two injured were also shifted to the DHQ. The injured were also in stable condition.
