Arts and crafts: Festival celebrating cultural diversity kicks off

Students of various public and private schools of the twin cities donned traditional dresses.

A festival celebrating cultural diversity was launched on Wednesday at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA).


The art and crafts exhibition depicted Pakistan’s cultural diversity.

Students of various public and private schools of the twin cities donned traditional dresses.

The Roots Schools Ivy and DHA put up very impressive presentation of Pakistani cultures and performed cultural presentations of Pakistan and the regional countries. Students also displayed paintings portraying the cultural evolution in Pakistan and across the globe.

Munir Ahmed, the festival director, said “The Pakistan Festival of Cultural Diversity is launched to showcase the cultural diversity
of Pakistan and other countries to mark UNESCO’s World Day of Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development celebrated on May 21 every year around the world.”

Federal education secretary Imtiaz Tajwar, who was the chief guest at the inauguration, said cultural diversity is our shared heritage and today is under attack by violent extremists because it is the symbol of freedom thought and the infinite creativity of the human being.
