LAHORE:

An assistant registrar of the Lahore High Court has issued a statement saying that the plan to extend the women’s bar room at the LHC had not been shelved. The statement said that the project had only been suspended temporarily by the Communications and Works Department on technical grounds. Once these issues were solved, the project would go ahead as planned, he said.

Over time, the number of women lawyers has increased which is why the expansion of the bar room had been initiated, it said. However, during the digging of the foundation, the workers unearthed two pipes – one for water supply and the other for sewerage. The Structure Wing of the Works Department is examining the site and will soon take a final decision on whether to shift the lines in order to go ahead with the project. The assistant registrar said that the LHC chief justice had not stopped the project.
