Malir City police constable Qesar was arrested on Tuesday for passing information to criminals

KARACHI:

A police constable was allegedly arrested for espionage, claimed Malir SSP Rao Anwar at a press conference at his office on Tuesday. He added that a suspected target killer was also arrested while his accomplice was apprehended.

Malir City police constable Qesar, who was part of the investigation wing and had served in the force for 12 years, was arrested on Tuesday for passing information to criminals. SSP Anwar said that he would be tried in a military court. He said the police raided the hideout of the target killers on a tip-off. "A suspect, Bilal, was killed during the raid while his accomplice Ayaz was arrested," he said. "Ayaz admitted that he was involved in the targeted killings of as many as seven people, including police officers, with the help of information provided by Qesar."

SSP Anwar told the media that Qesar and Ayaz worked for a gang headed by Akbar Milari. Ayaz had allegedly killed police constables Malik Muhammad Hafiz and Jawed in January 2015 and September 2011 respectively.
