ISLAMABAD:

Senate adjourned its session on Friday as a mark of respect and to enable the minority members to celebrate their holy festival of Dewali.

However, some senators expressed disappointment over the adjournment of the session without taking its agenda of the day, The Express Tribune has learnt.

The Senate resumed its Friday session at 11.15am against its scheduled time 10.30am. After recitation of Holy Quran, PPP Senator Rehman Malik on a point of order asked the chair, Deputy Chairman of Senate Sabir Baloch, to adjourn the session till Monday to mark Hindus holy festival Diwali.

Baloch asked Leader of the House Raja Zafarul Haq to express his view. Haq said that as the National Assembly has decided on Thursday to adjourn the session to enable minority members to celebrate Diwali, so the Senate should also be adjourned till Monday.  Baloch while deferring the agenda of the day adjourned the session till Monday.
