LAHORE / ISLAMABAD: Four opposition parties in Punjab announced on Tuesday that the parties will be contesting the local body elections together, Express News reported.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid (PML-Q) and Jamat-e-Islami joined hands against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for the local body elections.

The decision came after a joint meeting among the leaders of the parties.

Earlier the same day in Islamabad, Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) prepared a design to hold the local body elections in the country.

According to the statistics, there are a total of 184,900 voters in 43 cantonment areas all over the country and 1,298 polling stations will be set up for the elections.

I wonder do all of them still have that much power to beat PMLN…………….they are surelly afraid of a single party and have joined hands together…………just like in 1988 all of them went together against a single PPP.

It is very much necessary to transfer the power to grass root level, as the general public has the constitutional right, the govt should hold the local bodies election as early as possible.
