BAHAWALPUR: A four-year old girl was allegedly raped on Wednesday evening. Her condition was reported as critical.

Niaz Hussain, the girl’s uncle, told The Express Tribune that she had been kidnapped from outside their house in Mohalla Shikari in Ahmedpur.

“My sister informed me that her daughter was missing and we started a search. Four hours later, we found her in the lane next to her house. She was in great pain and crying,” he said. He said they took her to Ahmedpur THQ hospital and informed police.

Ahmed Pur East City Station House Officer Rana Hakim told The Express Tribune that a medical report from the THQ hospital had confirmed rape. “Her condition is critical. The doctors are trying to save her life,” he said. He said police were looking for any suspects.

Hussain said that the girl’s father was in Saudia Arabia. “We have informed him about the incident,” he said.

Bahawalpur DPO Sohail Habib Tajik has taken notice of the incident and a three-member committee including SDPO Rana Naveed Mumtaz, SHO Rana Hakim and SI Fiaz Shah has been formed to investigate and arrest the culprit.
