LAHORE: A petition challenging the appointment of new federal ministers over their alleged involvement in corruption was filed in the Lahore High Court on Friday. Petitioner Advocate Azhar Siddique said the Supreme Court had ordered the federal government to initiate criminal proceedings against certain federal ministers including Naveed Qamar for alleged corruption in rental power projects. Instead of taking action against them the government had rewarded them with cabinet portfolios, he said. He added that the prime minister had violated his oath by making corrupt parliamentarians ministers and thus stood disqualified.
