NANKANA SAHIB: Five people were arrested in a Nankana Sahib village on Thursday for allegedly throwing acid on a man over an old enmity. Syedwala police said Ibrahim, a barber, was kidnapped by the suspects during a visit to their village, Shaikh Bilawal, to attend a funeral. They said the suspects took the man to their dera where they threw acid on his eyes and over his body, inflicting severe burn injuries. Ibrahim was referred to Mayo Hosdpital in Lahore by doctors who treated him at the Nankana Sahib district headquarters (DHQ) hospital.

Dr Iftikhar Mohiyuddin told The Express Tribune that the man had lost his eyesight. He said acid had also burnt part of his face and neck. The victim had earlier told police that Mian Amir, the main suspect, bore him a grudge ever since Ibrahim had a fight with the latter’s father. He said the suspect’s family had filed a false case against him in which he was sent to prison for two years. He said he had suspected Amir’s father of an illicit relationship with his wife.
