Exploring new ways: Econometric modelling discussed

Five-day workshop ended at Institute of Islamic Economics of the IIUI

ISLAMABAD: Economists, researchers and academics at a workshop have explored ways to impart knowledge on data issues, analysis, econometric modelling and its applications in the context of empirical research, said a press release.

The five-day workshop on econometric modelling and applications for economics and finance was organised by the Institute of Islamic Economics of the International Islamic University (IIUI) which was attended by 90 researchers, academics.

The participants discussed time series econometrics, problems of auto-co-relation, static analysis, dynamic analysis and other points.

The university’s President Dr Ahmed Draiweesh presided over the concluding ceremony at the male campus on Sunday. While speaking on the occasion he said the institute was working on short courses on salient topics of economics in light of Islam.

It is essential to be prepared for the emerging challenges and IIUI is managing all its disciplines according to the contemporary requirements integrated with teachings of Islam, the president said.

Dr Draiweesh also hailed the institute faculty which has produced some renowned names in the field of economics.

Earlier IIIE Director Dr Aitzaz Ahmed said that the workshop helped the senior and young researchers to exchange experiences.
