ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party Senator Taj Haider has approached the Supreme Court regarding the adoption of a girl whose profile was featured on Facebook in the hope of locating her parents. Wajiha ,who was found in Attock last year, is in the custody of a child protection officer in Rawalpindi, Nazia Tabassum. Haider in a plea filed through his counsel Farooq H Naek maintains that since Tabassum and her husband are still young and may have children of their own, they should allow Wajiha to be adopted. A three-judge bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, on Thursday directed Tabassum to present the child. The bench was hearing the appeal of the PPP senator against the Lahore High Court’s July 1 order, wherein his plea for the custody of the child was declined.
